Dear John,
Thank you for changing my life today. Before I met you, life was a hazy blur. I was upset and depressed with going to school. Not only with the horrible thunderstorm last night, but with every negative aspect in life. Yet when you spoke, it was if the whole world stood still. As if I walked into another world. Something touched me, like no one had ever done before. Your saying of : "after every storm, there is a rainbow" really spoke to me. I hope one day when I am older, I may see you once again and I can prove to you that you helped me achieve where I am today. You are my hero. ♥

Hi John! Thank you so much for coming to CDNIS to remind us about dignity and how important it is to every person on the planet! You are truly a light in our world, and your passion and sacrifice for such a noble cause is very admirable. I'll do my best to follow your example, to live out "I am me because you are you", to make use of my opportunities to live like an eagle and to lower myself so others can be lifted up. I hope that other kids around the world will benefit and be inspired by your talks as much as we have!
Thanks :)

you taught us so many things today. You have inspired all of us, and we appreciate what you did today. Thank you so much.
Posted by: Laris | September 09, 2010 at 06:29 AM
hey john!
you're absolutely amazing as you can tell by the amount of comments ^ you're getting from cdnis students. i think you have touched all of our hearts and we will never be the same again. we may never be able to experience what it is like living in a jeep for 6 months but at least from now on, we will be able to tell people that we have met someone who has been homeless for 6 months but has gotten the best out of it and is now a proud eagle.
days from now, you may no longer remember me, as the person who gave the speech about being an honorary black person, nor will you be able to remember our individual names or recall our faces but the entire cdnis community will definitely remember you. you are truly inspiring and you have made a difference.
thank you so much john.
and yes, the #1 request of hundreds of kids is always a hug because that's the easiest way you can tell us that you love us.
i love you man.

Hey John!
It was an honor to have met you and listened to your presentation. You spoke with a natural confidence and ease which blew me away. I've tried in the past not to take things for granted, however you touched on the one point that I, astonishingly, did not realize.
Privilege, you woke me from the reverie I was suspended in and made me realize how much a pity and loss it would be if given my privileged upbringing, I did not become an great and important global citizen in the future. The idea of paying an act of kindness forward, to treat people the way I wanted to be treated, was reiterated and struck home.
I just wanted to say that YOU are MY role model, just as you have your mentors as your role models and that I hope to have the opportunity to be able to meet you again.

Hey Mr. John!
Thank you for that inspiring speech today, you taught me something valuable and changed my life! Before you came I "hated" my life. I would keep questioning myself why was I put on this earth; and I always thought of everything in a negative point of view. However, when I heard you say: "After every storm, there is a rainbow" I knew at that moment God was telling me to change my life to become an "Eagle" like you said Mr. John.
Thanks for everything!
From,
Kenichi

hi John!
thankyou SO much for coming to our school today! you were truly amazing. you are so inspiring. you have taught me so much. you have truly become one of my role models. What you said and how said it was truly powerful and i never expected to feel the way i do right now today. and i never expected myself to admit the story about my relationship with my parents to anyone... let alone my whole grade but i thank you for that because i feel so free from it now(: you have truly inspired me to follow my dreams of making a difference in the world as i am passionate about fighting for human rights. and after hearing you speak i do feel like it is something that i would be able to do and achieve.
Thank you SO much for coming. I hope you would come back again and speak to us(:
