Hong Kong – September 13, 2010 – HOPE Global Initiatives was proud to lead a Global Dignity event at a local international school and give the keynote address at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center on Thursday, September 9.

Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO, John Hope Bryant, accompanied by business leaders and members of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders program, taught a course in dignity to students at the Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS). The student body, comprised of youth from over 30 countries is a true mix of cultures, religions and nationalities.

“Global Dignity is an international movement focused on ensuring that all people recognize the sanctity of life regardless of color, ethnic background or financial status,” said Bryant, who also authored business bestseller, LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World. “Planting these ideals within youth will guide our world towards to a more progressive society, making dignity and respect for all people a global standard.”

Also attending and participating in the Global Dignity Day events were Global Dignity Board Member Irene Woo Chu, and Young Global Leader Christopher Logan, the chief strategy and marketing officer at Agility, a $7 billion U.S. global logistics company, both of whom worked to organize the event; Lynne Anne Davis President and Senior Partner, Asia Pacific Fleishman-Hillard International Communications; Joanne Ooi, chief executive from Clean Air Network, Hong Kong's leading clean air NGO; Suâ•∆Mei Thompson, executive director of The Women's Foundation; and John Lee, CEO of Tom Lee Music Co., a family business based in Hong Kong.

Later in the day, the Asia Society Hong Kong Center welcomed Bryant as their feature keynote speaker. The meeting, attracting some of Hong Kong’s most influential business and community leaders dealt with the topic The Global Economic Reset: A Crisis of Virtues and Values.

Bryant’s address focused on principles from his book LOVE LEADERSHIP, stating that the global community needs to focus on long-term wealth — wealth achieved by doing good and asking “what can I give” instead of “what can I get?”

LOVE LEADERSHIP demonstrates how leading with love and respect creates success in business and in life. The book makes the case that the best way to get ahead is to figure out what you have to give. Aimed at a new generation of leaders and extremely relevant for today's economic climate, LOVE LEADERSHIP draws on Bryant’s remarkable success story and on interviews with thirty love-based leaders such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Bill George, HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Ambassador Andrew Young, and some of the last book interviews with Secretary Jack Kemp and the late civil rights icon Dr. Dorothy I. Height.

As a part of his visit to Asia, Bryant addressed the prestigious Penn Club in Beijing and will participate in the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, taking place in Tianjin, China from September 13th – 15th.

Global Dignity Day is celebrated annually throughout the world on October 20th with leaders from all walks of life going into classrooms to discuss with youth the importance of dignity and to find out what dignity means to them and how they will live dignified lives.  The curriculum was developed through the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders program in 2006 by co-founders H.R.H. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Philosopher and Professor Pekka Himanen and John Hope Bryant.

About Global Dignity

Global Dignity is an autonomous nonprofit, non-criticism and non-partisan project as well as a call to action. Many individuals, organizations, authorities and businesses do great work to create a better world and to improve the life of individuals.  However, we seldomly ask ourselves Why do we do this? Why are these important efforts?  In our opinion, the answer is Dignity.  If we keep dignity as the fundament for all our actions and priorities, we will know that we are on the right track.  Then, we are in the position to strengthen the dignity of others – and thus we strengthen our own dignity. Global Dignity is linked to the World Economic Forum where young global leaders from politics, business, academia, and civil society have joined to get her to work for the improvement of the state of the world and people (the group ranges from Presidents of African countries to socially conscientious business leaders such as the founders of Google, from lead ers of the most influential civil society movements like Make Poverty History to leading academics and cultural figures of our time); for more information, visit www.globaldignity.org.
