Good memories never grow old.  The Operation HOPE family was honored to host my fellow YGL (Forum of Young Global Leader), friend and CEO of BBDO New York, John Osborn, for a CEO Leadership Discussion at our Operation HOPE Financial Literacy Empowerment Center in Harlem. John did an incredible job that evening, and was well received by all who attended.  Thank you John for all that you do to "bridge the gaps" that needlessly separate our society.

John Osborn and his team at BBDO NY are a walking, talking, living example of Love Leadership in action.  Thanks for all you do.

Meeting focused on ensuring Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act  works with the American consumer in moving out of financial crisis  Washington, D.C. – August 18, 2010 -- U.S. Senator Daniel Kahikina Akaka and John Hope Bryant, the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Operation HOPE, America’s leading financial literacy empowerment nonprofit, met earlier this month to discuss ways to encourage the development of financial literacy as a mainstream issue.  The Senator from Hawaii expressed his support of Operation HOPE and the Financial Services Roundtable’s Framework Agreement and noted their first year’s successes that benefited millions of Americans.

Earlier this year I was honored to join my brothers, Professor Pekka Himanen of Finland, HRH Cown Prince Haakon of Norway, my fellow YGLs and Global Dignity co-founders, in clasrooms at the Feza School in Tanzania, for Dignity Day, Tanzania.  Also present on this incredible day was the former President of Tanzania, the Turkish Ambassador to Tanzania and many other VIPs.

A Special Salute in Honor of Ms. Jennifer Holliday

 Pure, unadulterated class, substance and authenticity.  That is my first description of and for my new friend, Grammy award recipient and talented actress Jennifer Holiday.  I first met Jennifer with my Goddaughter Kirstin Fouche' when we decided at the last minute to attend the Watch Night services at Ebenezer Church, my new church here in Atlanta, on New Year's Eve.  After an appearance that left me speechless, Jennifer came and sat down next to me amongst the congregation.  I immediately moved so that my Goddaughter Kirstin could sit next to her, as Kirstin admired and still admires Jennifer greatly. Jennifer could not be more loving and gracious to Kirstin, both then and after her performance back in the offices of Reverend Dr. Raphael Warnock.  I knew I liked and respected her at that moment.  I have often said, "I would prefer you respect me and learn to like me, rather than like me, and never respect me."  Well, I quickly learned to both like and respect Jennifer.

Thanks to the initiative of the leadership from Morehouse College, here in Atlanta, Georgia, I was honored to receive more than 35 Morehouse College students to be at my home for 4th of July celebrations here at Bryant Park, hosted by Operation HOPE. In particular I would like to thank Rahmelle C. Thompson, program director for the Dr. John H. Hopps Jr. Research Scholars Program at Morehouse College, who escorted the students here.

Operation HOPE launches metro Atlanta mortgage, credit hotlines

Considering the huge footprint of the nonprofit organization CredAbility, it seemed unusual that national player Operation HOPE would launch regional mortgage and consumer credit crisis hotlines here.

That was, until founder John Hope Bryant put things in sobering perspective: “There’s enough poverty to go around.”

Less of a competitor and more of a complement to the services provided by CredAbility and others, Operation HOPE will target both the financially strapped and those too emotionally downtrodden to fight back. The California-based organization recently rolled out a slate of services to be provided to disenfranchised local residents. A permanent home office is being built near Ebenezer Baptist Church, Bryant said.
